Planning Your Fall Wardrobe

Everybody wonders what to wear to be stylish for the next season. Fall 2013 is right around the corner and it's time to start shopping. Picking colors out is one of the most important steps. How do you know what is right?? Looking in magazines can give you some help but you want to know what works best in your own closet, that's still your style while following the fashion guidelines. 

According to New York Fashion Week this past February, where the styles were shown for the fall the colors vary but emerald should still be in your closet. Remember it's the color of the year!

Pantone Fall 2013 Colors

In case you missed it, here are my top 5 things women should do to freshen up their makeup routines in the New Year: #1: Clean out your makeup bag Throw away old makeup, especially: Mascara after 3 months Lipstick/lip gloss after a year If there is a color in your makeup bag that you haven’t worn for over 6 months or you know you will never wear again, considering tossing it. If any powders or shadows are cracked, toss them. Keep two bags—one for your day-to-day makeup routine, and one with other colors or formulas you wear from time to time, but not every day. #2: Clean your brushes Start the New Year with a fresh set of brushes. They harbor bacteria, so you should get in the habit of cleaning regularly, at least every 2 weeks to once a month. That doesn’t mean new ones, just clean ones, and you can clean them with a professional brush cleaner, or some mild facial soap and water. Make sure they dry completely so they don’t trap bacteria. Hang the brush head over the counter so it gets its original shape back. #3: Start washing your face before bed This may seem obvious, but a lot of women don’t, and it is important to wash all of the makeup, dirt, and pollutants off your skin at night and again in the morning, as the skin detoxes overnight. Use a mild cleanser and eye makeup remover daily and exfoliate twice a week. #4: Start wearing eye cream A lot of women skip this step, but a good eye cream will keep you looking young and refreshed. Use under eye only, not on lid. It can depuff the undereye area and also help with dark circles. And eye cream is a great primer before putting on corrector/concealer—which you should also start using if nothing else in the New Year to brighten the eyes and conceal darkness. #5: Try something new Maybe you want to consider having more fun with color, experimenting with a bright lip, or learning how to line your eyes for more drama. Or if you wear a lot of makeup, find your perfect nudes and tone it down to let your natural beauty come through. Nude doesn’t mean beige—it means the colors that are right for your skin tone. It is nice to get out of your makeup rut by experimenting, and if something doesn’t work, it’s okay. You now know it is not for you.

Is It Bad Luck to See the Bride Before the Wedding Day?

Okay, so we aren’t exactly talking about just any bride when we talk about this wedding superstition. We’re referencing The Bachelor, which premiered last night as Sean Lowe met the 26 women he would pick from to be his eventual fiance (that is, if all goes as planned, which it never does). If you watched, one of the contestants showed up in a white wedding dress to make a memorable first impression. She even approached him saying “You may now kiss the bride” and locked lips with the shocked Bachelor!
Traditionally, the final reveal of the bride in her wedding dress comes later. WAY later. Does this mean contestant Lindsay’s bold move may hurt her chances at getting the final rose? That’s up to whether you believe in the superstition or not. Sean was clearly thrown aback though, and when he told viewers “God had another plan for me” after he was cut from a previous Bachelorette season, we don’t think his “plan” was to get a bride the first day of his reality show romance. We can’t wait to see how this dramatic series plays out! Fingers crossed Sean does find his bride. And believe it or not, Lindsay is still in the running!

  A Glamorous Holiday Makeover 

Nothing represents holiday beauty better than a high-shine red lip. For many women, a single swipe of this powerful hue means instant glamour. You don’t need much else save for a little black liner, gorgeous glowing skin and tons of confidence.
Here’s the breakdown of Julie’s transformation from her everyday next-to-nude complexion to holiday party perfection:

Face
Step 1: To create a flawless second skin, I applied Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup all over Julie's face, using my hands to press in the product.
Step 2: I tapped Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer on her cheekbones, bridge of her nose and cupid’s bow to beautifully bounce back light, which looks amazing in photos.
Eyes
Step 3: I patted the bronze shade from It Cosmetics Eye Shadow Trio in Pearl Luxe on her eyelids from the lashlines to creases to impart depth.
Step 4: I pressed Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo 24HR Cream Gel Shadow in Bad to the Bronze over the eye shadow from the lashlines to creases to bump up the dimension.
Step 5: I swept MAC Pigment in Blonde's Gold over the inner corners of Julie's eyes and onto the brow bones to enhance the overall glow.
Step 6: I drew on winged liner, in a thin and neat flare, using Maybelline Master Precise Ink Pen Eyeliner, which is perfect for creating this type of precision cat eye.
Step 7: I used Lorac Visual Effects Mascara in Black to lengthen and thicken her lashes.
Lips
Step 8: I glided on Bodyography Lip Liner in Crimson all over her lips to create a defined shape plus a long-wear layer.
Step 9: I painted on Lancôme Rouge in Love High Potency Lipcolor in Sequence of Love for the perfect party pout. Tip: Apply a coat, blot, and then apply again.
Step 10: I layered MAC Dazzleglass in Love Alert over Julie's lips as a finishing touch to add a wow factor via shimmer and shine.
