The Answer to All of Your Alteration Concerns!

For many of you this may be your first experience with fittings and being altered, but don’t be worried! Everything you need to know is right here.

On your first visit, you will get pinned by the seamstress. These pins represent what it is exactly that’s getting done to your dress… For example: A hem, a strap lift, etc. On your second visit you will try on your garment and the seamstress will consult with you again on what you like and what still needs to be tweaked.
On rare occasions the second time it is done and can be picked up and taken home.
**REMEMBER**
These dresses are being worked on by real people; it takes time for them to make things just right. They want nothing more than to be able to make you look perfect on your big day.

If you should choose to take your garment home before it is done, it will have open seams, loose beads, etc. because the work was not completed. You want to make sure you give yourself enough time before the event the garment is being worn too to make sure your dress is perfect. ALSO, If when you arrive for any of your appointments and have to wait a few minutes ... please understand it is the same as any other appointment! Some fittings may run a little longer than others. I know that all of us are a little impatient at times, but you will have your turn. The seamstress will then work with you as she worked on the customer before, with her full and undivided attention. You would not want the seamstress not to address all of your concerns; just think of it as going to the "Dress Doctor".

The charge for your alterations is based on the work needed to be done. If you buy a dress for $100 or for $1000, the charge to alter will be the same if the same work has to be done... So, if you are on a budget and need to stay at a certain price including alterations you should always get an estimate for alterations before you buy the dress. Also, please remember you can use any seamstress; you are never obligated to use the seamstress that the dress store offers to you. That is for your convenience, and your work will never be done on your garment before you know the price...no surprises at the end.

If you should change what you want or additional work needs to be done at your request there will be an additional charge.

A legitimate will never order a dress too large for a customer to make money on alterations, we order the size the manufacturers chart says to order and the customer always has the right to order a different size but must sign that they are ordering a size not recommended by the manufacturer. All manufacturers have different size charts and every dress from that same company will fit different. Just because you fit into a size 2 in one Sherri Hill dress, it doesn't mean you will fit into all Sherri Hill dresses in size 2... It is always best to order what the size chart recommends. Also a lot of customers will be losing weight for their special day (good for you!!!) but your dress will be big when it comes in especially if it has taken several months to come in, which is normal when ordering formal wear. Have patience with your alterations because it makes the difference between your dress looking good and looking fabulous on you!

As we all know it is all about the FIT!!!
